With nearly 30 years of post-qualification experience, Duncan is an established Solicitor specialising in all aspects of commercial, data protection, competition and regulatory law.
Duncan spent 10 years as a Partner with DLA Piper in the City of London and has extensive experience advising companies under investigation by UK, EU and other competition authorities for alleged participation in cartels or abuse of dominance.
As well as working with competition regulators in the UK, EU and EU Member States, Duncan’s projects have included working with the authorities in the United States, Australia, Brazil, Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania and Hong Kong among others. Duncan also advises clients on the applicability of the UK National Security and Investment Act 2021 to their acquisitions and has made numerous NSIA filings to the UK Investment Security Unit.
Duncan has an honours degree in Mining and Petroleum Engineering and before retraining as a lawyer spent 10 years working with the IT department of HSBC Bank plc. He therefore has a particular interest in the application of the law to the technology sector and has significant experience advising clients in this area.
Duncan is working towards admission as a Solicitor in Hong Kong.
